Joseph Schreiber is at University Book Store tonight. Star Wars: Death Troopers is about what happens when some Storm Troopers become zombies. I am completely serious. You can find five fan-made book trailers over here.
This year's Stranger Genius of Literature, Stacey Levine, will read at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater with a number of other authors as part of the Off-Hours Reading Series.
And Michael Chabon reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Chabon is the author, most recently, of a book called Manhood for Amateurs. It's the book that this week's Constant Reader is all about:
It's hard to imagine anyone but the universally adored, tremendously popular author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay and The Yiddish Policemen's Union approaching a book about manhood without becoming some kind of hairy-man laughingstock.
Short version: This shouldn't be your first Chabon book. But if you haven't seen Chabon read before, you should still go to this reading, and then buy another Chabon book at the reading—Kavalier or Yiddish are both great reads—and read it and then come back and thank me.
The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
