Currently Hanging

Seattle artist Claire Cowie's 2009 take on Bruegel's 16th-century hunt scene turns the innocent ice-skaters in the distance into a swarm of helicopters.

Her new work is darker than usual. (Same with her husband.) Her Easter-egg colors are gone, replaced by the stains and streaks of India ink. Her inspiration is the the Book of Revelations.

The show is called Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth. It's already open at Gage Academy, but the party to celebrate, with an artist talk at 7, is Friday night.

Love to be a pedant, but, uh, it's the Book of Revelation.

Or, to be super-pedantic, the Book of the Revelation of St. John.
