After six years of curating and producing exhibitions, talks and special programs, the individual artists who run Crawl Space Gallery have decided to disband in order to pursue independent interests. Crawl Space will therefore cease to exist following our final and most ambitious show to date, Stranger Circumstances, opening on November 7th, 2009.
Thank you for your support. We hope you will join us for one last celebration on November 7th at 6pm.
Crawl Space has been the most consistently awesome artists' collective in the city, led over the years by a crew of artists including Anne Mathern, Chad Wentzel, Diana Falchuk, Brad Biancardi, Jason Wood, Todd Simeone, and Matt Browning. For the last while it has been run by the terrific Jennifer Campbell. We've shortlisted Crawl Space for a Genius Award twice (here's why).
And there's more news of galleries closing: Benham Gallery, the photo space run by Marita Benham downtown, is going online-only as of January 1.
Benham's last full show at 1216 First Avenue, UW: Photomedia, features UW teaching artists Paul Berger, Rebecca Cummins, Ellen Garvens, and Michael Van Horn, from November 4 to December 5.
