The Mother of all Americans

Posted by Charles Mudede on Wed, Oct 14, 2009 at 4:27 PM

Liz Cheney said on Fox News Sunday.

But I do think he could send a real signal here. I think what he [Obama] ought to do frankly is send a mother of a fallen American soldier to accept the prize on behalf of the U.S. military and frankly to send the message to remind the Nobel committee that each one of them sleeps soundly at night because the U.S. military is the greatest peacekeeping force in the world today.
Sending the mother of a dead soldier would also remind them of this: We produce (or reproduce) death. That is who we are at the core. If we were to send, say, just a dead soldier to Norway, the message would be very different. The corpse would say to the Nobel committee nothing but: We are dead. That is who we are to the core—dead, dead, dead. But sending the mother of a dead soldier says much, much more than that: We are gravid for the grave.

Liz Cheney is an idiot. The mother of a deceased soldier is not something to be tossed about as a political tool (also, that mother probably didn't do anything to help our country except get fucked to create, then spit out, a warm body to fill a billet).

What they SHOULD do is give the Peace nod posthumously to those wonderful people who commit suicide (thereby providing their bodies to feed the earth while avoiding the energy drain that humans inherently are).

P.S. Did anybody see that Craigslist ad for the 'suicidal astronaut'? I saw it, but it got taken down before I could apply. I think it originated in Northern Alberta.

"The U.S. military is the greatest peacekeeping force in the world today"

Holy Christ, that's delusional.

Ms. Cheney's comment is proof that when you are surrounded by world views that only reflect back on themselves, you can honestly think of things that are repellent and obviously untrue to the vast majority of (living) humanity.

But hey, happens to the bes--- oh. Forget it.

I think that Obama should graciously decline the award. It certainly doesn't read well to the unwashed masses over here in the States.

I actually like this post. I'm surprised. The vision in my head of it is basically just a dead, bullet-ridden body, disfigured beyond recognition sitting silently at a podium. Allot 35 minutes for his 'speech' and make sure the cameras stay locked on him for the duration.

Hell, actually, maybe we should send the mother of a dead Iraqi and give her 35 minutes to explain to the world why, exactly, the American President who every day passively chooses to continue two wars as though he's powerless to stop them.

Wait, here's an idea. Combine the two. Let the soldier lay there while the mother explains what kind of great peacekeeping force the American military is.

You know Liz Cheney killed a guy while drunk driving once? Then wrote a lesbianishly erotic romance western?

She's all over the map, I tell ya.

So, the country that gave to the world the electric light, the telephone, radio, airplanes, television, frozen food, Hollywood, Paul Newman and Elvis Presley.. the country that gave to the world the notion that all men are created equal, and have the inalienable right to the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.. the country to which hundreds of thousands of immigrants come each year to forge a new life for themselves with new freedoms and opportunities (ahem)... According to you, Charles, this country is nothing but a death-producer at its core???

Okie-Dokie Chuckie. Whatever you say.

Sounds like he got the award for not being as big of a douche towards the rest of the world as Bush was. Seems like a low bar for the Nobel Fucking Peace Prize.

Frankly, at least she is speaking frankly, which frankly is -- something? Also, in the afterlife, there are no electric lights.

Republicans, even dyke republicans, get raging hard-ons just at the thought of bombing foreign countries.

The U.S. military is their pornography.

How about if Obama just used his "Nobel Power" to order all Muslims to end terrorist Jihad?

Then he would deserve the Peace Prize...retroactively...

Liz Cheney is a moron. And all these people hating on Obama for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize? Hey, he had the balls to run for President as a black man, take the nomination and win. He clearly has placed himself and his family in danger, and he hasn't even mentioned it.

Think of it. This country is so fucked up on race. The Founding Fathers decided a black man was worth 3/5 of a vote so the slave-owners could have more Congressional representation. The Supreme Court then screwed the pooch in the Dred Scott decision. It took the nation's bloodiest war in history just to secure freedom for the blacks, then another 100 years and the death of the Democratic Party (God bless you, President Johnson) to get formal civil rights. Still, everything is fucked up, and here comes Obama, target on his front and back, running for President as if it's his right--which of course, it is. And, fuck, yeah them Norwegians gonna give him the Nobel Peace Prize! As Dan Savage regularly points out, a significant minority of the population of this country want him dead. That's courage, that's accomplishment, that's what we voted for.

@8 Passively? The Brits have leaked that Obama pledged 45K more troops for Afghanistan in order to get them to pledge more, and ahead of the NATO foreign ministers meeting next week in Bratislavia.

About time he decided to actually fight.

@20: Great comment, kk. But: If the slaves had had 1/1 representation, the slave states would've had MORE representatives, right? The 3/5 compromise was so the NORTH would come out a little better. (I think) Best wishes.

Great idea, let's send a representative of our military (sort of) to accept the peace prize. Nothing says peace like bullets and missiles.
