Obama to the Human Rights Campaign: Promises. Yeah, those same ones again.

Lobbyists: If you haven't noticed, they're winning their battle against lower health care costs.

So Everything's Fixed Then, Right? Dow Jones industrial average at its highest in a year.

Missing Hiker: Found dead near Glacier Peak.

In Pakistan: Hostages freed after militant attack on nation's army headquarters.

Iran: Still after an international deal to acquire uranium for research. Because who would worry about these guys getting their hands on nuclear materials?

Swine Flu: Sharp jump in the number of children dying from it.

American Football: Sure, it's violent. But as barbaric as dogfighting?

Speaking of Football: UW, opposing receiver's foot stage spectacular comeback.

You call this crap 'news'?!

What about the ballgame last night:

The Mighty Mighty Huskies (Pride of the Pacific NorthWest) came from behind and STUNNED Arizona 36-33 scoring two touchdowns in the last three minutes of the game!
The win gave the Wildcats their first conference loss and puts the Huskies at 3rd in the PAC.

More interesting than the DOW is that the Big Internet stocks - Amazon, Yahoo - are near their "Tech Bust" highs from 2000.

Also, venture capital has had one of its biggest years in a long time, focusing on internet and biotech startups.

I have long forcast a resumption of the business activity at the Tech Boom level now that the 2nd Great Depression seems to be winding down...

TJ Langley, that missing hiker who was found dead, was a longtime Capitol Hill resident. He managed the Embassy Apartments at Boren and Pike, was deep in the theater scene, and literally (now ironically or eerily) survived a bear attack in Yellowstone 10 years ago. He was a good guy.

As a Sun Devil, I'd like to thank the Huskies for pulling out the win. The Devils, of course, returned the assistance by beating the Cougs for you.

Cut the anti-Iranian bullshit. You're up in arms because Iran imposed the death penalty against protesters? Don't we put innocent people to death in our own criminal justice system? Didn't Scalia say innocence is not a good enough reason for someone to have a new trial? QUIT TRYING TO USE RACISM TO JUSTIFY WARS, STRANGER.

@5. Ah, ASU: semi-naked female coeds, tan and beautiful, hanging out on campus, strolling the streets of Tempe, and perusing the shelves at Changing Hands Bookstore. Mmm, such lovely memories! You say the school has a football team, do they?

Fuck Iran. But that's OK, I hear the Israelis have a nice Christmas present waiting for them. (Hint: It's big and it goes "bang.")

Every football fan -- every Husky, every Coug, every Seahawk fan -- should read taht New Yorker article, and then reflect on how they are different than people who pay to watch dogfights.

The answer is: they are not different.

@4: Ditto. TJ was my neighbor for ten years. He was a good guy, a very good actor, and an outdoorsman the way Tiger Woods is a golfer. Years after the grizzly attack, the Yellowstone park rangers still remembered him with great respect.

imagine if obama cantwell schumer boxer mcdermott stabenow dodd clinton et al. had been organizing the last six months for a national health care march on the mall....with call outs to senators conrad landriue baucus....could we not have filled the mall a la 1963?

oh wait, instead obama decided to sit down with the insurers and propose reforms palatable to them, i.e., fattening their profits.

never mind.

@9 - But not informed consent. We don't yet know how many players would still play if they knew the full range of consequences in their retirement years.

RIP TJ: your long stint in "All in the Timing" was some of your funniest work.
Stoopid bear. Stoopid gravity.
