Today in Top Chef-Related Unfortunate Neologisms

Posted by on Fri, Oct 9, 2009 at 3:08 PM

As we learned recently, Top Chef contestant Robin Leventhal is the new executive chef at See Sound Lounge in Belltown. As remarked then, See Sound has never been known as a place any human would go to eat food, being quite entirely a nightclub. Thus this regrettable coinage, brought to you by our friend a press release:

Top Chef Season 6 Chef’testant Robin Levethal takes “gastro pub“ to new heights: gastro club!

Exclamation point, indeed.

Full press release after the jump, in case anyone cares.

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Top Chef Season 6 Chef’testant Robin Levethal takes “gastro pub“ to new heights: gastro club!

In the heart of Belltown, nestled between culinary savvy Zoe & Spur on Blanchard sits See Sound Lounge. Known to many for its art shows, others for its nightlife and now to a rapidly growing flock of Belltown foodies, many thanks to executive chef Robin Leventhal.

Robin is winning hearts and stomachs on the current 6th season of Bravo’s Top Chef. The former owner of Crave (Capitol Hill) and her fellow “Chef’testants” have cooked for some of France’s culinary greats, the Air Force and even cowboys! Now she wants to cook for you!

See Sound Lounge recently celebrated it’s 5 year mark. Created by owners Bryce McKamey & Kristi Anderson, See Sound has been innovative in it’s design, blurring the lines between traditional bar, restaurant, gallery, corporate events facility and night club, with recent recognition as a (newly coined) “gastro club”. It is a hot spot for corporate holiday events, especially now that event organizers can have their menus designed by Robin herself, based on their guests tastes. It was the only Seattle venue that disallowed smoking the year it opened and has hosted numerous charity events. It has also been voted “best bar” and “best lounge” numerous times.

Find Robin at 115 Blanchard St (between 1st and 2nd) Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 11. Happy Hour is from 5 to 7 with a very generous ½ price $4-$12 menu, $3 wine, beer and champagne. Check out the menu at seesoundlounge.com. Features include a very popular Fresh Fig & Goat Cheese Tart with Rosemary Brisee, Rocket & Port Gastrique, Roasted Beet Carpaccio Salad and Smoked Salmon Rillette.

Re: Robin Leventhal:
I really can't take her "healthy living" hypocrisy one more minute. Because Seattle is a small town, I remember when Robin got diagnosed with cancer and was going through chemo. I also remember at the same time she was spending an awful amount of time in the back room/kitchen at a certain bar in Seattle doing a massive amount of cocaine with her best friend. DURING CHEMO!
Her holier-than-thou behavior on the show and false claims to living such a healthy lifestyle is disgraceful. Especially when better chefs are going home and she is staying on in part because of the "cancer card" that she is playing so well.
