Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, a novel about Thomas Cromwell. Ron Charles of the Washington Post Book World says that Henry Holt, the American publisher of Wolf Hall, aren't moving up the October 13th publishing date of the book, even though it's climbing the Amazon charts:

If you would like to buy a Hilary Mantel novel and you don't want to wait until the 13th, Beyond Black is pretty good. It's a weirdly unsentimental look into spirituality.

Margaret Atwood plugged this book last night at her reading at Town Hall. Someone asked her who her favorite authors were and she artfully replied by telling us what she has been reading lately. All the ladies with notepads went scribbly scribbly scribbly when this came up.
