Do I Look Fat in This?

Posted by Paul Constant on Tue, Oct 6, 2009 at 5:55 PM

The kids over at Boing Boing mocked the Ralph Lauren advertisement to the left because it clearly needs mocking: The model, who was no doubt already tiny, has been photoshopped into something that does not look human.

Ralph Lauren responded by declaring that Boing Boing's use of the ad was an infringement and demanded that Boing Boing take down the image. The thing is that Cory Doctorow is the co-editor of Boing Boing and he's an author who is thoroughly versed in matters of copyright.

And so now, thanks to their dumb legal action, even more people have seen the awful Ralph Lauren ad to the left. I hope you'll think about that ad before the next time you consider buying Ralph Lauren clothing; they clearly don't have any idea what the human body is supposed to look like, which is certainly not a quality that I like in my clothing designers.

Clearly, frot is the only option, and about as much fun as a broomstick or a bicycle (even assuming you're straight, and she's interested).

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to use cartoons instead of models? If you don't care if the thing doesn't look human, why waste money on a photographer and model?

That just looks disgusting.

That's odd she looks like a human to me. What does she look like to you?

You should see the models in Vanity Fair.

Ouch.

Oh, newsflash, models represent a tiny fraction of people and body types.

That picture is literally nauseating, ugh, thank you fashion world for causing skinny girls everywhere to still feel like they're too fat.

@7 totally.

Getting lots of love over at Photoshop Disasters too. The post was removed automatically by Blogspot due to the DMCA request. Ironically enough, there's a post up there where they do pretty much the same thing to Brad Pitt, for Edwin Jeans. Pelvis smaller than your head: not just for girls anymore!

I thought this was going to be a story about Brooke Shields getting anorexia.

Anyway, more like this:

Ew
You probably think she's hot because she oddly resembles an alien of sorts
Guys being attracted to overly skinny girls?= Gross

Maybe she should start to eat daily instead of monthly, her body looks way too small for her head- AKA: Alien

@4 and 8 - Sounds like someone has gone a looooooooooong time without seeing a naked woman in the flesh. Watch out for that death grip, boys.

Funny thing is that the bottom half and top half are both hot, but the combination is literally inhuman. Skinny can be hot, but not if you would actually be incapable of walking without snapping your spine.

Photoshopped by an Alien. those hips are like, 50% smaller than they should be.

Trouble 23
This reminds of one time I did a bunch of acid at a roller coaster park. There was an anorexia support group or something having an outing there that day. Walking skeleton people are not fun to look at after a dozen pretty strong hits. I just about lost my shit.

Also, LSD + roller coasters = Wheeee!

If she were actually that thin, she would be an inpatient in an eating disorders clinic.

Kind of agree with @21 about the snapping in half. I'm no physicist, but it seems like the top half is too big to be supported by the bottom half.

That doctored image of that woman's body is abjectly revulsive. Anyone who finds that image in the least attractive needs immediate therapy.

A while back there was another post where some people said a girl (not this model) looked way too thin, and I did some arguing against it.
Now, in this case... this woman does indeed look way too thin!

They also have no idea what a pair of pants is supposed to look like. Those pants are fucking hideous.

If the photoshop artist was going to go there, s/he should of at least altered the model's "huge" arms to look more proportionate.

Actually, is it possible this wasn't photoshopped? If that's the case...well, I'm more gay than I was before I looked at the photo.

Just Blue 38
@37

Nope, she’s definitely suffered a Photoshop butchering…unless she’s had her pelvic bone shaved off around the edges. No amount of starvation can force your skeleton to selectively stunt itself at key locations.

Also, if she really were that ghastly thin, in jeans that tight her knee cap would be more prominent in the bent leg. Her face would be outright gaunt as well.
