Top Chef Update: Robin Leventhal, New Exec Chef at See Sound Lounge

Foreshadowing?

  • Foreshadowing?

On Wednesday night, Bravo showed a Top Chef rerun, leaving everyone in Seattle another week to wonder what's going to happen to our hometown competitors, Ashley Merriman (soon departing from Branzino) and Robin Leventhal (formerly of Crave).

In a recent interview with Seattle Metropolitan, Leventhal says the minute she got back from Vegas, she went to I Love Sushi. And as far as what's ahead:

Right now, I’m really trying to foster relationships, trying to bridge that gap between my community and my craft, and create the continuity in my life that will enable me to carry my creativity to the forefront. My fantasies are creating a product line that will give a percent donation to the Fred Hutch [Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center—Leventhal is a cancer survivor] to further my investment to finding a cure for lymphoma. I have a Masters in ceramics—I would like to design tableware. These are my fantasies.

Add that to the recent foreshadowing—all the grumbling about her by the other chefs selected for inclusion on the show, along with the poll on the Bravo website shown above—and it sounds like she's not long for the Top Chef world. And meanwhile, Belltown's See Sound Lounge—known more as a nightclub than a restaurant—is advertising the fact that Leventhal's the new executive chef.

I would call Leventhal for comment, but contestants are not allowed to speak to press without the Disembodied Voice of the Bravo Network present (see here).

When are you going to tell people Chicago is out of the running for the Olympics?

A better question is why you don't have a SLOG piece on the upcoming weekend Vogue fashion show in Bellevue? Do you only cover Seattle events because only hipsters will attend Seattle events?

RE: Front Row Fashion Show
Time: 7PM
Place: Hyatt Regency Bellevue
Proceeds: Boys and Girls Club Bellevue

There are other arts/culture/fashion events outside of Seattle.

You might want to take note of it?

Masters in ceramics? Is that like a masters in underwater basket weaving?

Please tell me a legitimate university doesn't give out a masters in ceramics.

Reality Check: When has The Stranger ever covered mainstream fashion or events in Bellevue? I can't think of anything less-Strangerish than a Nordstrom fashion show at the Bellevue Hyatt, and besides, that happened already, Wednesday September 30. Go back to reading The Weekly.

*muah* Amy Kate

The show is happening tomorrow.

Get your facts straight. Vogue flew in for the show this week. You might want to consider scrolling down a bitttttt further in your exhaustive attempts at discerning the facts..

or so it seems to me.

Keep up the good nose to the grindstone, ear to the ground work on covering the region's events!

And feel free to hide under the excuse of snubbing your nose at Bellevue in general and arts/fashion/enterntainment that happens over there... it gives a great impression... that simply because it isn't held in Seattle it isn't worthy, or isn't "hip" enough..

And you continue to wonder why you aren't taken seriously? You continue to wonder why others in King county turn their nose up at your snobbiness? You continue to wonder how voters could possibly not want to vote for your agenda/candidates?

really?

#4 it seems like the Stranger covers the restaurants, the museum, the architecture over there on the east side pretty regularly--not like the pike/pine corridor of course but with increasing frequency. I don't really care for Bellevue (although it is changing into something better...) and I will never live there but to discount what goes on over there being irrelevant is ignoring the coverage that's been in your former paper.

Since I know Robin reads the Slog, I wonder if she might chime in?

I liked Robin. I will agree that she was out of her league with alot of those Chefs, but I found her to be down to earth and non pretentious.
