Not Just Doctors: Lawyers Helping Artists, Too

Posted by on Thu, Oct 1, 2009 at 9:01 AM

After I wrote this piece on the local free health care for artists that no artists were using, I got an email from Washington Lawyers for the Arts.

Artists: If you need legal aid, turns out it's available, too. Take down this info.

Washington Lawyers for the Arts is a non-profit org that has tended to the needs of starving artists for over 30 yrs now. In addition to various seminars, speakers, and legal referrals, the org throws bi-monthly arts legal clinics in Everett, Edmonds, Seattle, and is just starting up in Tacoma. The clinic is open for artists and art orgs to discuss art, entertainment, business and intellectual property law issues. The clinics provide 30 minute private consultations with an experienced intellectual property attorney, specializing in arts and entertainment law. Best of all, we ask for a mere $20 donation to the org per consultation. Appointments are required and can be made by contacting Cal Kinnear at 206-328-7053 or info@theWLA.org.
