Help Re-Brand Lynnwood!

Posted by on Wed, Sep 30, 2009 at 10:58 AM

Take it away, Associated Press:

The city of Lynnwood, once spoofed for big-haired women with blue eye shadow, is spending $80,000 for an image makeover. The Everett Herald reports the city has budgeted $80,000 and hired North Star Destination Strategies to come up with a brand. A new logo and tagline would be used in marketing campaigns.

Historically, Lynnwood has been less than successful at marketing itself—as the AP reports, "In 2004, the city came up with a 'Start Here' campaign, encouraging visitors to use Lynnwood as a springboard to Puget Sound sightseeing."

So let's give 'em a hand.

What should be Lynnwood's new slogan?

Maybe they could start by changing the name Lynnwood to something even remotely interesting. Maybe a local Salish name or something.

(Lynnwood is home to Family Policy Institute of Washington, WA Eagle Forum and hosted Watchmen on the Walls. What's not to love?)

I love what the firm did for Columbus, IN with the foreboding slogan of "Unexpected. Unforgettable."

It's not gonna make you a logo, but maybe you could shave $40k off that fee and just use this:

Keep hitting "sloganize", it's fun for days.

@20 is right. Lynnwood may not be a garden paradise, but it's probably more diverse than Seattle is -- certainly far more so than Capitol Hill.

Lynnwood: We have some pretty shoreline too; we just chose to put a sewage treatment plant on ours.

Lynnwood: More park and rides than you’ve ever seen in your life.
