Coming Soon: Mobile Chowdown!

Posted by on Tue, Sep 29, 2009 at 12:30 PM

For your stomach's consideration: awesome Seattle street-food vendors Gert's Barbecue, Marination Mobile, Maxiumus Minimus, Skillet, and more, all in one parking lot in Interbay on October 10.

Snapshot_2009-09-29_12-12-40.jpg

For those keeping track, this event is not the same as the Seattle Street Food Market that was planned for the end of the summer by Skillet's Josh Henderson and Gabriel Claycamp (now of the Swinery), though Skillet will be there.

Thanks, kid icarus.

Cute lunchbox, but if you look closely, everyone's crouching with firearms. Are they recommending that attendees don kevlar underwear?

The people who run Gert's are very, very sweet but the food I had was very, very bad...the french fries were raw, the bbq ribs had the consistency and taste of charcoal, the sauce was putrid and the sides were inedible.

but, the people are adorable.

so everyone is getting in their cars, on the 15/18 drunk tank, or riding their two wheelers over to Interbay?

I think not.

Interbay? Yeah, that's a high-traffic location.

Seriously, these are all MOBILE food vendors - so why are they parking out in the middle of nowhere Interbay and making people drive to them?

@4 - I agree about the smaller plates. I stopped going to the Bite of Seattle because they only offer meal-sized portions. Why go to a food festival when you can eat only one thing?

It just really freaks me out when I see how much grease and steam is coming off of Skillet when its behind the photocenter or wherever. They need a catalytic converter on that thing. It just hangs in the air.

I work in Interbay and have enjoyed having lunches every Tuesday when Marination Mobile was there. I can't wait to sample more if the others are as good. By the way, Interbay is perfect for this since it is the crossroads to Magnolia, Queen Anne and people coming and going to Ballard.

I kind of like the idea of not having to go all the way into downtown Seattle for some good food. Great idea! I look forward to checking this one out.

This is a fabulous chance to see what creative people doing with these new food businesses and compare. If someone doesn't measure up this is there opportunity to raise the bar. I also think Interbay is a great place for this to happen. Had lunch yesterday at the Fighting Cock a couple blocks up Thorndyke and it was great.

I love the Marination Mobile food and they offer small servings so other vendors can be sampled too.

The fresh authentic tortillas, tamales and salsas make El Camion stand out. I find their mole sauce to be high-end restaurant quality.
