"The Different Kinds of Strangers"

Posted by on Thu, Sep 24, 2009 at 1:08 PM

Good to know.

Also, what the fuck?

Thank you, Videogum (where Gabe offers a few hee-larious stranger-traps of his own...)

What do you mean "what the fuck?"

Safety has to be taught....over and over again.

There's a part of me that wants to get kidnapped by the blond woman with the video game.

I would have a hard time saying "no" to the lady with the gameboy. And not because of the gameboy if you catch my drift.

Oh, and I am an adult and am not a law enforcement officer.

I too would like to engage in sexual intercourse with the blond female.

I'm unclear -- how was the famous trap different than the hero trap? I have to say, he does look like a lot of professional photographers I know...

I'd put my batteries in her gameboy.

She's hot and likes video games? Clearly a trap.

We should avoid:

helping
bribing
being famous
having fun
getting a job
being a playmate
emergency
affection
authority
hero
threats

sooo.... how is anyone supposed to get sex?

A pizza delivery guy represents authority?

And yes, sex with the blond woman would be desirable.

Completely wrong actress to use for the gameboy bit. I'd go to her car, no questions asked.

How did they get actual child molesters to play the child molesters?
Posted by Queen Vidor on September 24, 2009 at 3:35 PM
oh, THAT 13
@12 - Child molesters aren't very smart.

I would have had a hard time resisting the cute blonde guy who wanted to go play "arcade games." He could toggle my joystick anytime!

I like the skeezy bald dude with the mullett in the car. Mama always said when you see trash - pick it up!

Good thread!

Also, to the blonde: We don't have to go all they way to your car, see, this game boy has fresh batteries. Good to go!

The "I'll kill your dog" threat is especially scary since the guy appears to be wearing a dead dog on his head.

Also, shouldn't the celebrity trap be called the Michael Jackson rule?

Even though the stranger stuff is completely misdirected (stranger kidnapping/harm is incredibly rare compared to harm from people a kid knows), the interspersed comments are actually really good -- "your safety is more important than being polite" "follow your feelings" and "you can say no, even to an adult." I'm a med student and during my pediatrics rotation I asked a 4yo to take off his shirt. He said no, and his mom said, "you don't say no to an adult!" What a great message to send! A grown man you've just met is asking you to take off your clothes and you can't say no! Fuck that. Gavin de Becker has great books (The Gift of Fear, and Protecting the Gift) about helping kids develop and follow their intuition to keep themselves safe instead of relying on a stupid list of techniques a stranger might use.

Kill your dog guy made me laugh out loud (at work), and @12, that was my thought exactly especially the "You're cute let me take your photo" guy. Could they have found any creepier actors?
