This came last night from Implied Violence, who are performing at the Dutch/U.S. New Island Festival in NYC:

We just had champagne with [REDACTED] at Art International Radio. We are recording there tomorrow. She tried to get Ryan drugs and gave us a benjamin.

The enfants terribles are taking their 'tudes on the road.

I redacted the name—the person is a major figure at PS 1 and MOMA and has done a lot of nice things for artists I don't want to get her in trouble. (Let's hope somebody returns the favor one day.)

Here's some video of Flinch Not and Give Not Back, the little kernel IV started at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center on Long Island that has grown into whatever IV is doing in New York right now which will grow into something IV threatens to inflict on Seattle sometime soon. (Those things on the man's chest in the beginning? Leeches.)

New Island Festival ended on Sunday. It was very awesome. I saw Implied Violence's name on the program but didn't realize they were from Seattle. Bummer. I did, however, discover Governors Island -- what a gorgeous place! I will spend all next summer there.

What did you see that you liked, Cracker Jack? I wished I could've made it out.

I saw (in order of viewing) Braakland (Wasteland) by Compagnie Dakar (dir. Lotte van den Berg), Orfeoby Veenfabriek (dir. Paul Koek) and Salto Vitale by TUIG.

In order of appreciation, just reverse it. TUIG was amazing and an excellent end to the day, Orfeo was Dutch dinner cabaret, the performances by the singer, Jeroen Willems, and one of the percussionists made for great storytelling, but the over-hyped dinner was a disappointment. Braakland was dark and interesting, but its energy and purpose lagged at points, plus they had us staring into the lowering sun for most of it -- literally hard to watch.

Implied Violence is pretentious bullshit spewed forth by talentless nobodies. FYI.

@ 4. Their knack for polarizing their audiences is part of their charm.
