Teabagger Escalation?

Posted by on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 5:40 PM

The Huffington Post says:

The FBI is investigating the hanging death of a U.S. Census worker near a Kentucky cemetery, and a law enforcement official told The Associated Press the word 'fed" was scrawled on the dead man's chest.

The census worker was 51 years old.

here is the today google trends graph for "census worker killed" (#67) as of now.
http://www.google.com/trends/viz?hl=&q=c…

and if you type in "census worker" into a regular google search it will top suggest "census worker hanged" , perhaps something is odd though, because the body was found on 9/12.

The source of the story was one unnamed police contact. It may not be true.

ok yeah, it was a suicide alright:
the word 'fed" was scrawled on the dead man's chest
because what the story neglected to mention was that underneath "fed" was scrawled:
"up with all the stupid fucking crackers trying to kill me, because I just want to count them so they can all receive health, education and roads funds"

yup, right wing spin machine, go ahead, roll with that.

I blame Michelle Bachmann for fomenting bizarre opposition to the census, as well as the rest of the right wing echo chamber's incendiary rhetoric. They are creating an environment where unstable people feel compelled to commit violent acts.

This man, a single father working two jobs, died for their sins. What will become of his kids?

As a middle-aged government bureaucrat myself, I do not approve. Luckily, most Seattle crazies are not that crazy. Or rather, they are that crazy, but not that violent. They usually just want to corner me to tell me about how their neighbor is using our transformers to torture them, or how the FBI is spying at them through our power lines. Sometimes they are suspicious of their hot water heater, but that is the exception to the rule, and they tend to be the gentle, bookish type anyway.

But isn't the census constitutionally mandated? And aren't these people always screaming about the constitution?

Catalina, my hot water is a son of a bitch, and I think you know something about it, god damn it. AND STOP MOVING MY HOT SAUCE BOTTLES AROUND.

Trying to use logic and common sense to reason with right wing nuts only enrages them further.

yeah, census is used to, you know, help determine the seats in the House of Representatives

gah, being fairly represented is an anti-american plot that destroys families and embryos rights, sheesh.

Fnarf dear, from what your water heater is telling us (through the secret communication lines we installed in your home in the 70's), you're not exactly a barrel of laughs either.

You can either learn to live with "ol' Sparky", or I'll be obliged to send some goons to your home to rip it out. (They charge $150 per "visit", although if you buy them a bottle of Early Times, they might overlook that. )

But don't blame us for the hot sauce bottles. That's the water department. And If you think that's bad, you should see what they are doing in your downstairs bathroom every payday.

@9 - Backwater states, like Kentucky, are losing population compared to the rest of the country. This means, they could also lose Representatives in Congress.

My name is George Thomas Harned,III. Bill is my first cousin. I hadnt spoke to bill in about 20 years, after he moved from Florida. I can remember sitting on my front porch with him and he sowed me how to dove call with my hands. i also have a picture of him when he had his face painted like a clown. I remember him always wanting me to laugh. Why would someone treat bill this way. Please help the sparkmans find this killer so that thet can not destroy anymore families.

@5 no one knows any of the damn details....keep that in mind before you go off the rails and blame the vast right wing conspiracy. Died for their sins? Maybe you are laying it on a little thick?

There's a bright side to this. When the nutcases move beyond their nutty rhetoric and start acting out their nuttiness, they and their nutjob movement will be swiftly and decisively crushed.

Nutjobbery and intimidation could cause undercounting, which could result in fewer representatives for crazy states.

So, are we gonna invade Kentucky to root out the terrorists finding a safe haven there?

Weirdly reminiscent of the plotline from Murder, He Says.

My son went to school this morning with the newspaper in his hand. He said, "Mommy, Mr. SparkMan was my friend." He is in 2nd grade and he read the article last night. We ran into him back in the Summer at Wendy's in Manchester and had lunch at the the table beside him. He was a very sweet and caring man. I pray that whoever did this is brought to justice very soon. RIP Mr. SparkMan - you will be sadly missed.

Anybody starting to get really scared? My boyfriend keeps talking about cashing in his 401K and buying $50,000 worth of guns...

I'd be scared that I have a really really stupid boyfriend, Lizabeth. Buy all the guns you want, but cashing in any sort of retirement plan just leads to tax problems. Believe me, I've been there. Dumbest thing I ever did.
