Closer

With Scott Fife's work, you need to get closer to see what it's really about. His sculptures are made of cardboard. This time around, at Platform Gallery, the sculptures (and a painting) are of Elvis and a T-Rex. Here they are seen in full.

I shot a few details this weekend so you could see their surfaces and their structures without all the unifying logic. They're collages, really.

Here's a painting of a woman that Fife abandoned, then reused for a jawline.

@1. Well come over to the gallery and slap down your $4,000.00 to $40,000.00 smackers and you can take your favorite piece home with you! Is your home climate controlled? Cardboard hates moisture.

Personally, I find this work looks like so much kitsch and haven't we really overdosed on that?
