The Teabagger Video to End All Teabagger Videos

Posted by on Mon, Sep 21, 2009 at 4:43 PM

I know, I know, I know. You're sick of Teabagger videos. Hell, I'm sick of Teabagger videos. But when I saw this video on The Rumpus, I realized that it is the ultimate Teabagger video. It's almost ten minutes long, it's horrifying, and it's amazing. You should watch it, and then stop watching Teabagger videos forever.

Holy shit. Can't they at least put themselves together and protest about the same thing?

A plethora of redneck accents from crazy-ass relatives of Cletus the slack-jawed yokel.

Fave quotes: "They're all intertwined... um, fascism, communism, socialism...they all have a little bit of each."

"I'm opposed to czars."

"This is Amurikha, we don't have czars in Amurikha."

The young kids were most depressing.

I gave up at 1:52. And yes, this the last teabagger clip I will ever watch. BLECH!

@2, these are sort of like the far-right version of your average anti-WTO protest, then?

They were outed for trying to put an intellectual guise over their racism. Disgusting.

Quotable: "It hasn't even been a year yet and he's destroyed, like, most of the country." like @3, this is probably the most depressing part of the video.

I don't know why the hip, progressive, all knowing, cool, young, black, Hispanic, blah blah blah Left don't do the same thing? Can't be bothered I guess. It's easier to bitch, moan, and call the other side idiots.

The parade of stupidity! The march of paranoia! The gathering of slack jawed goons! No wonder they loved Bush.

Well, it is working. Hopefully they were sold plenty of cigarettes and high fat foods while sitting around stressing out.

It is enough to make me forget CPR, selectively. God's will, you know.

These sad people are not naturally stupid, they are intentionally stupid and willfully ignorant. They are intoxicated on the feelings of "righteous indignation". Its every bit as addictive as the most dangerous recreational drugs. And like most addicts they will only overcome the addiction by themselves. Pointing out their lies and ignorance won't change them. Watch their faces when the interviewer gives them a fact that belies their belief. Its like he popped their balloon. But they will forget it in less than a minute.

Free Lunch 18
@7, by "do the same thing," do you mean to show up at an event because a media pundit promoted it (and its hilarious talking points), and urged his viewers to attend for weeks and weeks?

I think your question is answered.

This is a great video, and what I like about it is that it's not dripping with snark. Doesn't make me feel superior - makes me sad, actually.

@20: Exactly. A wise choice by the producer of the video, letting the stupidity speak for itself. If we'd been subjected to Michael Moore style preachiness, it would have only detracted from the effectiveness of the video.

The only quibble I have is that the first U.S. Czars, as the title is commonly known to refer to, were appointed by Nixon, not Reagan... (Nixon appointed a drug czar and an energy czar in 1971.)

But I'm actually impressed that the interviewer was able to give out information as effectively as he did...

Maybe, all you need is a microphone and a camera to control the agenda?

I like the guy carrying the 10 ft cross over his shoulder who said "I just wanted to see the Capitol building- I had no idea this was going on".

I was heartened by the receptiveness some showed to new information. MIght be a house of cards. But with these folks trained to seek out the propaganda money machine that roars for them day and night, hard to get a sensible word in edgewise.

The interviewer was good. At 8:22 he gets the God-loving woman to say she's learning a lot and that she's changing away from being a Republican. As far as crazies videos go, this one was refreshing!

@16 The WTO meets in other cities besides Seattle. Everytime the WTO meets, there are protests. Many of those protesters are just as ignorant and actually responding the same types of racist fear and paranoia.

The one thing that we do learn is that we can teach these people to start thinking for themselves. This guy taught them quite a bit in a short period of time. Education is the only way out of this mess.

That is the first and last of these videos I will ever watch. I'm deeply disturbed. Also, why is it that all of these ignorant, conservative fundamentalists are out there yelling louder than us? That scares me most of all.

Also, where do I find the guy with the mic?! Hottttt.

Question... Before going out to the craft store... spending roughly $20 bucks on supplies... then making signs & marching all day long... Wouldn't you read a book? Just one book, relating to the topic of my protest. Maybe a newspaper or magazine? So you know what you're marching about & fighting against!! OMFG! I would read... and watch every news program, look at various points of view before making up my mind... I find that's the best way to NOT be an ignorant fool, caught with his pants down, at a rally that im "So passionate about" & "believe in so much"
Know what Socialism is before you call someone a Socialist!
Know, that appointing a "Drug Czar" (ADVISER) does not make us Russia!
That's sounds simple, right?
