Meanwhile in Hell, Adolf Hitler Is Making a Snowman

Posted by on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 4:34 PM

Bill O'Reilly came out in support of the public option on his show last night. Socialized medicine? When did Bill O'Reilly become a moderate?

When he realized that Obama was going to win over the masses if the public option got implemented (and therefore secure a second term), and O'Reilly wanted to either vie for those hearts & minds, or somehow co-opt the gambit.

My suspicion: O'Reilly is starting to feel neglected as Glenn Beck's star rises with the cranky-old-white-guy set, and is looking to get himself some attention.

@2 FTW.
That is exactly what I was going to say. Beck has taken away his angry white man shtick that going moderate is the only way for him to get ratings back.

I think Ms. Owcharenko had O'Reilly buzzing at the core.

Ow! Is right...Send in the bureaucrats, as long as they look like her!

Umm, I'm going to say he was probably diagnosed with something expensive to treat and has realized his private insurance will only be covering 80% of the cost leaving him to pick up the rest of the tab...which may range from several hundred thousand dollars to millions. Remember folks, even if you have insurance, cancer costs upwards of $300,000-1,000,000 (depending on type/stage) per year and even the best insurance will stick you with 20% of that bill.

We shouldn't speculate...all we need to know is the son of a bitch is on our side. BTW, who has the better ratings? O'Reilly or fuckhead?

Unpossible. Papa bear must have been slipped some LSD by a commie homo.

The key to this quote is that he starts it by saying the public option is dead as a foregone conclusion. This is still perfectly consistent with trying to kill it -- throwing up his hands and saying "It might be a good idea, too bad it's impossible."

He is a jock riding frontrunner.
He is picking a popular fight as early as possible, and (I agree with many) sees Glenn the dumbshit on the losing side.
Republicans eating their own, the Fox blowhard edition.

@7 How DARE YOU, my good sir! O'Reilly is a fuckhead, too! The correct terms shall be, "Old Fuckhead or New Fuckhead"!

@5... I like your theory. Spread the rumor, O'Reilly has the gay AIDS! I heard he had sex with prostitutes in Rome! (Actually, uh, that's not a made up rumor.)

Never share your falafel with a stranger.

There is no information about what the new definition of what the 'public option' is. O'Reily's support may indicate that the watered down 'public option' is item that will be shoved down our throats. Either way the corporate profit interests will be catered to.
If I am unable to opt out of my employer health insurance and choose from the exchange the 'public option' will not be able to 'compete'. Only the uninsured will be able to buy into it (with their new subsidy monies).

Actually, corporate interests (save the ins companies) are best served by a public option. Massive and tiny companies are being hammered by health care costs, yet everyone right and left continues to act as if emplyoyer provided health care is sacred. It makes the most sense though to relieve every company from General Motors to Bobs transmission repair of the yoke of health care costs.
