Funeral Dress

Posted by on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 12:22 PM

The sweetest, saddest story of the day, summed up perfectly by MetaFilter:

When his best friend died in combat, he showed up in a dress to the military funeral. Because both had promised each other that if one of them died the other would wear a dress to the funeral. True friendship.

Heartbreaking photos here and here. Pvt. Kevin Elliott was lucky to have such a good friend.

That would be hilarious if it weren't so incredibly sad.

That man is incredibly brave in so many different ways.

And on top of that I wandered over to Publicola and they say the Stranger gave Jonah "his walking papers" yesterday afternoon. Izzit true?

He had his blind spots but was getting better all the time. And he's the only one who's treated McGinn like a candidate instead of a pet. Shit - Jonah put up three good Slog posts just yesterday.

Wow. Of all the people there I'd like to see take a walk, Jonah was pretty close to the bottom of the list. That sucks.

Fuck Barack Obama for continuing Bush's wars. These are Obama's wars now and he now has bloods on his hands. Bush = Obama = NO CHANGE. VOTING FOR CHANGE = FAIL.

hahah YESSSS. Jonah is awful, just awful. I'm kinda surprised they are finally moving on from him, but really glad.

There is a new opportunity for excellence with the new editor, and Jonah really doesn't fit in that regard.
