Movie|Line's Kyle Buchanan provides the answers.

In other news, I love the internet.

Soooo not fair to illustrate this with my favorite actress of all time. Stockard Channing at 34, playing Rizzo who's supposed to be, what, 17?

Sorry, but I had to use Rizzo. I loved Grease as a pre-teen, but lived in fear of looking like Rizzo by the time I graduated high school. (I didn't understand they'd cast a middle-aged woman until much later.)

1)34 isn't exactly middle-aged...

2)You could have also used anyone from Carrie as an example, or half the cast of the original 90210...wasn't Gabrielle Carteris in her 30's?

also, the original Greg on All My Children was 30 playing 17...

3)I thought it amusing a few years ago when Harry Potter fans were worried that the Potter movie actors would be older than their roles by the time the series ended...hopefully they're not horrified that 20 and 21 year olds are playing the 17 year old characters in Deathly Hallows...

I used to love the 30 something high schoolers in 90210. I wished Andrea Zuckerman went to my school.

Then there was Ralph Macchio. By the time Karate Kid 3 came out he was old enough to play Mr. Miyagi's part.
