Tamara Murphy's New Restaurant

Posted by on Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 3:30 PM

The lease has been signed for Terra Plata, the new restaurant from local-food-hero Tamara Murphy—she of Brasa, pig-raising-and-killing-and-blogging-about-it, the revamped Elliott Bay Cafe, and Burning Beast.

Where's it gonna be? On Capitol Hill behind Machiavelli, in the same building as the soon-to-be-relocated Sitka & Spruce. They're renovating the building now. That block is going to be a Bermuda triangle of food greatness—the kind of Bermuda triangle you want to get lost in forever. (It's a triangle-shaped block.)

Murphy and (doomed) friend.

"Here, little piggy. You're going to taste so goooood at Christmas time!"

I mean, brava on her efforts raising livestock more humanely.. Brava, brava, brava! But how can you make friends with something you're going to eat?

It's easy. Just don't anthropomorphize.

uh, how many yupscale restaurants does Capitol Hill need?

It would be nice to see more retail, art and entertainment developing and a little less FOOD.

My dad had a working farm when I was a kid. I always made friends with the animals that weren't trying to stomp me or kill me. And I knew they'd be on my plate someday. It's just a different view of the world, that's all.

@ 3 Thank you. If another trendy overpriced restaurant opens up on the hill I think I might faint.
