Two Unrelated Bits of Movie Bloggery

Posted by on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 12:59 PM

First: Despite what you read on the internet last Thursday, Matt Damon isn't dead:

"What amazed me even more was that the calls we were getting were from [news groups] that were very reputable...The truth of the matter is all these mother [expletive] are lazy [and didn't do their homework to verify if the story was real]. There I said it."

This exact same obituary has been circling the internet for at least two years.

Second: The Futility Closet spotlights a great idea from the days of silent film. Instead of using title cards to impart dialogue to the audience, someone came up with the idea of using word balloons. Actors would inflate balloons with their dialogue printed on them, thusly "add[ing] to the realism of the picture by the words appearing to come from the mouth of the players." I can't stop thinking about this idea.

Dang, you had me worried.

Good thing it was only Janene Garafolo that died in that horrible plane crash.

Fuck off, Will. That's not even in the same hemisphere as funny.

It seems to me that calling Matt Damon's publicist is, in fact, "doing their homework to verify if the story is real". Were there any reputable news groups who ran the story? No. Damon's anger is misplaced.

The Amazing Jim 3
It was my understanding that Rob Schnieder died when he had a day-laborer choke him in the shower.
