Infinite Summer, that enormous online book club, is over. Because of Infinite Summer, thousands of people have read Infinite Jest who would not otherwise have read Infinite Jest. So what do you do when you've finished a big fat book by David Foster Wallace and everything else feels dinky in comparison?

You read a big, fat book by Bram Stoker, obviously. Infinite Summer: Dracula will run from October 1st through Halloween of 2009. (Which makes it more of an Infinite Autumn, but whatever. I understand the importance of sticking with successful branding.) A few Dracula experts are on hand to discuss the novel over the course of October. If you've always wanted to read the world's most influential vampire novel, now's your big chance.

@7: Shut your mouth. Just shut it. (if you want boring, try Lair of the White Wyrm, now THAT was dull)
---

I admit I am surprised anyone who is somewhat literate hasn't read Dracula before their mid-twenties. I'd recommend the annotated edition since it details what went into the writing, and picking up/reading Dracula's Guest.

As for his other works? Skip Lair of the White Wyrm, you'll save yourself the painful headaches from banging your head against the wall.

Dracula is not all that big and fat. It is pretty daggum boring. A big, fat bore. Reading Frankenstein is a more meaty task, but it's not all that exciting, either.

Paul, people have until September 21st to finish Infinite Jest. It's not over yet. Although, I did finish it a long long time ago. I think I just heard my ego pop.

You can order it from Amazon, though it's a little suspicious that they list a "new and used" price...

I don't know. It makes me so sad. I LOVE Count Chocula. I miss it. :(

Has anyone actually found Count Chocula in a store in Seattle? I've never seen it here, but seen it in upstate New York (pretty much any grocery store) and in California (low-rent stores only). What gives?

Um, there are people who read Infinite Jest who've never read Dracula? Really? That seems so silly. I thought all people who read have already read Dracula.

MMmm .... Count Chocula. That was a huge and rare treat as a kid, if I remember correctly I liked Boo Berry best of the three.
