Business Backs Mallahan

Posted by on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 1:14 PM

The Alki Foundation, the political wing of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, just issued their recommendations for the general election. None of the group's initial picks for mayor (Nickels and Drago) or King County Executive (Phillips and Jarrett) made it through the primary election. In their absence, the business minded group mostly favors their ilk: T-Mobile Executive Joe Mallahan for mayor and the two conservative Port of Seattle candidates, David Doud and Tom Albro. However, Alki does come out for progressive King County Executive candidate Dow Constantine. Here's the list:

King County Executive
Dow Constantine

Seattle Mayor
Joe Mallahan

Port of Seattle Commission, Position 3
David Doud

Port of Seattle Commission, Position 4
Tom Albro

King County Assessor
Lloyd Hara

Seattle School Board, District 5
Kay Smith-Blum

Seattle School Board, District 7
Wilson Chin

Alki's previous recommendations, issued in June, for city council races are here.

I'm going to write in someone; I have as of now been unimpressed with either of the two candidates.

My focus is seeing if Dow can pull his head out of his ass and try to beat the bitch from KIRO.

I wonder how much weight these endorsements will carry when the 43rd Dems vote on their General endorsements tomorrow night at 50th and University Way NE?

That said, the Billionaires Tunnel is still dead, and Mike's going to drive a stake through it's expensive heart in a couple of months.

Maybe now the Stranger will reconsider its endorsement of Albro, who has failed to earn the endorsement of even one democratic legislative district.
