Reading Today

Three events today.

At the Hugo House, a group of poets will celebrate the 50-year anniversary of Jack Kerouac's poem "Mexico City Blues" by reading the poem aloud. Who doesn't love Jack Kerouac? Besides his ex-wives, I mean.

Mark Kraushaar reads at Fremont Place Books tonight at 6. Falling Brick Kills Local Man is an incredible name for a poetry collection.

And Pilot Books host a release party for the seventh issue of a zine called Eaves of Ass. This issue is titled "The Shit Lottery." Subtlety is obviously not a weapon in Eaves of Ass's arsenal. You can find more about the zine here.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.

I might go to the Hugo House, just to hear some stuffy folk read the word "windowpoopies"

Ah, nevermind

A GROUP of poets? Isn't "babel" the correct collective noun here, as in "a babel of poets?"
