The Sad Literary Leavings of Slog Happy

Only one book didn't get taken at Slog Happy last night, and I'm kind of bummed about it. Nobody wanted The Pilo Family Circus by Will Elliott.

Here is what the publisher has to say about this book:

"Audition or die." Delivered by a trio of psychotic clowns, this ultimatum plunges Jamie into the horrible alternate universe that is the centuries-old Pilo Family Circus, a borderline world between hell and earth from which humankind's greatest tragedies have originated. Yet, in this place-peopled by the gruesome, grotesque, and monstrous-where violence and savagery are the norm, Jamie finds that his worst enemy is himself. When he applies the white face paint, he is transformed into JJ, the most vicious clown of all. And JJ wants Jamie dead . . .

Killer clowns, people. What the fuck is wrong with you? (But I do need to confess: I picked up this book a bunch of times and could never get past the first few pages. So whatever the fuck is wrong with you is also the fuck wrong with me.)

If anyone wants this book, it will be next door at Value Village, on sale at a reasonable price.

Clowns are creepy...end of story. You don't need to read a book to find that out.

Alas, I was not at Slog Happy...I have never been to one :( as I live in a land far, far away...

Comte got the one I wanted 'The Book of William'. He promised he'd bring it next month...
As it is, I actually have time this weekend to read, so maybe a report on the history of videotape will be coming soon.

Jugalos deserve neither fame nor sympathy.

That said this really cool DVD from Lindy is going to be fun to watch.

A shame. A really, REALLY good book, dark and twisted and delightfully obscene.

@4: If only to see if the method behind the book was deliberate or not.
