"Future Dog Lover might enjoy this film," writes Air. From the film's description: "PUP follows two out, gay, Christian leathermen—Master Skip and Pup Tim—as they prepare to compete in The Second International Puppy Contest (IPC), a leather title contest for human canines and their handlers."

Oh, pups, it never gets old for me.

I've played with a few pups, and you know, mixing the cuteness of assuming a very specific identity with a psychological factor (OMFG, PUPPIESSSSS!!!!!!!111) with very deliberately structured power play (OMFG, good doggy!) really does make for a good time.

I've kinda wondered if the collapse of Old Guard Leather facilitated the rise of puppy play. I've noticed that the Old Guard circles in places like Portland and San Francisco seem to be getting replaced steadily by pups and masters.

Until I clicked I didn't realize this was a documentary. Ed Begley, Jr. does not have a role.

The Director's Statement begins: "When I first dove headfirst into the leather world and discovered the grit, profundity, laughter, and nuance there..."

Master Skip "serves on the Theologies Team for Metropolitan Community Churches and on the board of directors for Butchmanns, Inc., a non-profit educational organization dedicated to self-actualization through the mindful use of physical practices and the conscious exchange of personal power for spiritual awareness. In his own words, 'Blood may be thicker than water, but leather is thicker than blood.'"

Pup Tim "is co-founder of the Metropolitan Community Church of Los Angeles's affinity group, P.L.A.Y. (People of Leather Among You). He gave the central sermon at the ecumenical worship services for the 2003 International Mr. Leather contest..."
