The Greatest Gift

Posted by on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 8:05 AM

Republicans like South Carolina's Representative Joe Wilson ought to call Obama a liar more often. Since his remark 14 hours ago, someone set up a new donation page on ActBlue called, "Defeating the man who yelled "liar" at Obama: Goodbye Rep Joe Wilson." More than 2,000 people have donated over $70,000 for Wilson's Democratic rival, Rob Miller, just since last night. Miller lost by only eight points in 2008, which is the closest in the district in 20 years, according to Wikipedia. And every time I refresh the page, there's more money in the coffers for Miller to defeat his petulant rival. They're trying to reach $100,000. You can help out over here.

Tip from John, via Crooks and Liars.

South Carolina. I know we have our share of nutcase representatives here in Georgia. But this time it was our fair neighbors to the north.

Almost 80k now, wow.

I'd like to donate to this. And some money to the "buy Dominic a map" fund. <3

I thought this was FOR Joe Wilson. I do think people should stand up and call Obama a liar more often, and make him say what he really means the first time without having to change his original thought. Maybe I'll setup a donation fund for Joe.

Honestly, I'd like to see more rough and tumble yelling and fistfights in the US government. It is so entertaining to see in other governments. I am jealous.

@2...If you look at people like Sanford, Graham, Wilson, Bauer, the guy busted for having sex with a horse, et al...I think SC definitely has GA beat in the nutcase department at the moment.

Well what did you think Joe Wilson would scream? "Lynch the fucking n*gger!!" And we all know that's what he REALLY wanted to scream.

Calling Obama a liar was Wilson's idea of being civil: you know to a black man.

@5 - who wants to stand up for somebody so cowardly that he shuts down his dot-gov website rather than face the repercussions of his tactless and impotent outburst?

if we'd cut the south loose instead of having a civil war we wouldn't have had to hear that shit.

I don't think they are nut cases. That's too easy.
Wilson is just plain rude.

Beware.

The dark forces are massing. This guy is a fool, and a racist, indeed. But, he is not alone. America needs to fear the new energy of the far right.

Good item, Dom, going to donate, but, this is a serious moment with all the energy and boldness these folks have found.

Beware.

Representative Joe Wilson is a racist because of his automatic reflex of disrespectfulness toward President Obama. To him he is not the president and therefore not presidential. To him he is a radical activist shouting from a podium and something for him and his people to revile like an uppity (yeah I said it) child.

@20
I just set the "unregistered" comments to "off." The best way to fuck the trolls is just to ignore them. (In this case it is the same douche that repeatedly posts under different names. ie he has doesn't have the balls to register.)
