Swedish father Ragnar Bengtsson, 26, has entered into an experiment that he hopes will help him breastfeed his future children.

On Tuesday, the Stockholm family man began stimulating his breasts with a pump in a bid to produce milk.

The whole story is here.

Thanks, McNeil.

Nothing like warm breast milk filtered through nipple hair.

I've wondered why male lactation never caught on with the kinksters. It's not a new concept or anything, and it's way less extreme than some of the things that dirty Mr. Savage's column is always introducing me to.

There are a lot of estrogen-enhanced foodstuffs, plus then you don't have to shave so often, right?

"Men often have trouble finding things. And if the mother is out, the child is screaming and they can't find the pacifier I'm sure there are a lot of men who give their baby their breasts."

I can't... form thoughts... right now...

No, that would require rennet, although I suppose the blood from his cracked nipples might suffice for the coagulant.

Everyone loves boobs. Might as well make man-boobs useful. It'll give him something to play with, at least.

I'm pretty sure this has been tried before - don't think I ever heard how it came out.

Well, that child will surely be maladjusted when it grows up.

@14: This has been tried before, and it turned out as you would expect.

I found the photo in the article very moving, though clearly staged (Bengtsson's son is 2 years old and "not part of the experiment").

The bonding part of the discussion was interesting. I do think babies need skin-to-skin contact with their parents at intervals. A couple of the sweetest, best-adjusted kids I know, a girl and a boy, now teenagers and confident without being obnoxious, were breast-fed by their mom but also spent a lot of time as infants lounging on their dad's shirtless, furry chest.
