I think it's progress when a state gets same-sex marriage that the news of it is as ho-hum as another space shuttle landing.

Publicola has the ruling from this morning's judgment in WAFST vs. Secretary of State.

It's a case of bad news/good news, in that the ruling goes into great detail as to why, under normal circumstances, the signatures should be immediately rejected. However, the statutory limitations on contesting a certification like this don't allow you to challenge it mid-process. You have to wait until the SoS has finished.

So, the question is this: does WAFST file a challenge today, or do we take on the bigots?

The only folks who cared about the opening day of the same sex marriage season in Vermont were, predictably, the ever classy Phelps thugs, who turned up with big signs saying YOU WILL EAT YOUR BABIES. (Here's a picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zizyphus/38… ) But, who cares about that small coterie of hate filled ticks?

So Obama is going to give a speech where he will sell out the American people to big corporations. You're right Christopher, he's doing what he does best on so many levels.

@1 for the win.

Same thing happened in Canada when gay marriage became legal. Most people said "ok" and moved on with their lives, other than the very very busy people involved in the marriage industry who were overbooked.
