The Love of Lori Jacobs

Posted by on Wed, Sep 2, 2009 at 9:23 AM

From Komo News:

Cougar sightings in the city's Magnolia neighborhood have residents there on high alert.

Residents said the cougar has been spotted in a local park, as well as in yards and on residential roads.

Lori Jacobs said she came face-to-face with the cougar, who was lurking in her alley when she came home Monday night.

"It was huge. It was a very large animal and it was beautiful," she said. "If I wouldn't have been so worried about my cat that was out in the alley at the same time, I would have really been impressed by it."

The power of absolute nature, the magnetism of raw animality, the breathing of the beast. The unpredictable cougar invading the space of urban rationality, its rock-hardened muscles mastering béton brut; its wild hunger, the fire in the eyes, the burning of life—"it was beautiful."

The cougar is not terrorizing the residents Magnolia, it is mesmerizing them.

Um, also big cats are beautiful. Most people with eyes have noticed that. Not too much philosophizing needed for that.

Do cougars eat raccoons? Because if they do, I'd like to invite it over to our place on Queen Anne. The 'breathing of the beast' is not a big deal to me; the 'eating of other smaller beasts by the beast' would be more useful.

There are always cougars on the prowl in Magnolia, mostly at the Village Pub.

odd that cougars would come back before deer.

what are they eating besides cats and chihuahuas?

Please keep small children and pets indoors until this cougar has been captured and moved. He or she will not be able to tell that your small loved one is not a prey animal. Don't give them an excuse to kill this beautiful animal.

Odd, My cat was really pissed off at me the other day and told me he was sending his cousin out to hunt me down and kill me. Didn't really take it seriously until now.

@4,

The only time I saw a raccoon in broad daylight was on Queen Anne. It was gigantic and completely brazen, just stood and stared at me until it sauntered off. Freaked me the fuck out.

i might be willing to give up my first born child to a cougar if i can watch it attack.....and consume....that would be an incredible sight

there is a severe lack of middle-aged female cougar jokes in this thread.... @5 was pretty good though

Magnolia is a weird place. I once saw a fox saunter down the sidewalk there.

the cougar at the Woodland Park Zoo is the saddest and least-mesmerizing cougar.

Why the hell are big cats beautiful to us? They're like the main predator of human ancestors. Surely it would be more adaptive to find them monstrous.
