Antioch Adoptions is thrilled to announce that we will be this year's recipient of the "Angels in Adoption" Congressional award! Congressman Dave Reichert nominated us for this prestigious award which recognizes an organization's positive impact with respect to foster care and adoption. Will you join us in praising the Lord for the work He is doing for His orphans through Antioch Adoptions.

Please also pray that the financial resources needed to travel to Washington DC for the award ceremony Sept. 26-30 will become available...

Thank you for your support and prayers for this vital ministry.

Who can I write to stop Ken Hutcherson and his evil minions from getting this award?

@2

It is not believing in God, necessarily, that makes them dumb ... it is the blind following that makes them dumb ...

It figures that Reichert would have his tongue up Hutcherson's ass.

This turns my stomach. But, what turns my stomach more are my more-or-less liberal friends who, for whatever godforsaken reason, live on the east side and continue to support that asswipe Dave Reichert.

This man is not a moderate. He is not an independent. The difference between Dave Reichert and a Michelle Bachmann are so in infinitesimal that it makes me want to absolutely scream.

Don't you see it????

Jesus H Christ.

What exactly did they do to "earn" this fine award? They have a staff, plus a vision, plus goals. They got someone to nominate them for an award, which is funnelled to the Member of Congress by the Angels in Adoption outfit.

But what exactly have they done for children who need homes? Not clear from the website, which looks like it has not been updated since 2006.

It looks like some of those children who need homes are the precious pre-born. These bogus self-congratulatory self-indulgent awards and other baloney emanating from xtians are oppressive.

This award is just crapola. And I am headed straight to hell in a goat's mouth.

To play Devil's Advocate here (why am I doing this? Where's Fnarf? Mr. Poe? All the other way-smarterer-than-me Sloggers?) what's so fuckin' bad about them gettin' an award for adoptin' them precious babies what's been born to unfit mothers?

Seriously, doesn't about 45% of the pro-abortion argument include something about "if them churchy people wanted to reduce abortion why don't they step up and start adopting babies" ?

Now here they go and do it, and get an award for it (although I'm not sure if it has to do with exceeding some set quantity of adoptions-per-month or what) and you rag on them for it?

@ 9,

Who says they're adopting all those unborn, unwanted pregnancies? They're website hasn't been updated since 2006 and in fact their website seems to indicate that was the last time they placed a child, and that appears to be only one of three they actually did place. Plus, there's a bunch of half-truths about abortion. Along with the fact that the church didn't actually start this charity. The church handed out $20,000 dollars to 15-1600 attendees and one of them started 'Antioch Adoptions'. Why is the church being honored? It wasn't their idea and their money doesn't really fund it.

@9 Yeah. I rag on them. No reason not to because I am not convinced that them dang xtians are adopting them babies.

In fact, I'm guessing that they are using the "crisis pregnancy" schtick to blare and bleat and blat their half-truths about abortion and naughty, bloody minded, sinful and confused crisis pregnant women. The whole crisis pregnancy baby thing is not about babies. It's about disapproving of women. . . and for that they don't deserve an award.

If they had evidence that they were doing some good for babies and the crisis pregnants, without charging them the high high price of drinking the kool-aid or suffering eternal damnation, I would be so happy to see it and would even change my nasty comments. But I don't think they have any of that evidence.

Also, please. If I were a goddess and got this kind of "please buy me an airplane ticket" prayer, there would be some smiting going on.

Um, if the Power O' Prayer (tm) really, truly works, shouldn't these Good Christians (tm) be praying that, um, maybe the parents don't get killed or drug-addicted so they can take care of their own babies?

My take-away was that if a megachurch pastor needs to make a special request for donations just to cover a little airfare and hotel, maybe (hopefully!) his megachurch isn't doing so well.

That, and it's amusing how Hutch tries to bury the lead.
