The Innocence Mission

Posted by on Fri, Aug 28, 2009 at 8:47 AM

Looking for an image to accompany a post concerning marriage, and what Foucault had to say about it in one of the lecturers he delivered at the College de France, I came across this image.

Picture_1.png
Why did it make me laugh a little? Its evident innocence. Africans can be so innocent.

The image is from Ari V's photostream.

It probably made you laugh because the progress of reconciliation and healing makes something that would have groundbreaking years ago look like a clip from a car ad.

"Now that your life has changed, it's time to change your car! *SMIIIIIIIILE*"

The only thing I think is peculiar about this picture is how all the men are wearing a stripe of some sort. It's cute. It's like they coordinated beforehand.

What is going on with Slog? I feel like it's become less interesting and more esoteric -- and I have a feeling that Mudede's much more frequent posts has something to do with it ...

Indeed. Interesting and esoteric are such opposites. Oh well, back to looking at cats.

What's going on with Slog is a good question.

Dan's anti-Obama [boring] rants got old quick. Oh, and Dan's focused on his tee-vee career now. I do love HBO though, so GO FOR IT!

Charles - keep up the good work. I like that you add to both slog & line out often. your recent post on the Blue Scholoars is totally right on.

Slog jumped shark a few months ago. I mean the regular sloggers have all vanished, Mr Poe, Oringial Monique, Fnarf (well he still shows from time to time)

Ugh, how long have I been slogging on this damn thing now anyway? Three years?

If nothing else, Charles' posts this morning have made me laugh while I wait for my car to be repaired. Thank you sir.

I read once that innocence is to be free of thought.

In that tiny moment of time captured in the wedding photo, I can see it. Free of thought and the burdens that come with it.

I don't get it, but it is a cute picture.

"charles, is this just rascist unregistered troll bait?"

Yes, it is.
He didn't even bother trying to obscure that fact with one of his unnecessary 'intellectual' turds. He just threw this one out there to try and make white men uncomfortable.

"Why did it make me laugh a little?"
Oh, I don't know Charles, maybe because you noticed it was a white woman among a bunch of black guys? Maybe? Nah, you'd never stoop so low for attention!

"Africans can be so innocent."
Uhh, struggled for a few minutes trying to find something to say in order to get your troll bait out there? It didn't really conceal your intentions.

What's the point of this post? Two pointless race-related posts by Mudede in a row.

@6:
Good riddance to Mr. Poe & Original Monique as far as I'm concerned.

I do wish Fnarf was here more often...

Charles, I often wish that I could grasp your cultural perspective in more than these semi-frequent Slog blips and farts.
