Stabbing in Georgetown

Posted by on Fri, Aug 28, 2009 at 11:09 AM

A 49-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing in Georgetown early this morning.

According to police, just after 2:00 a.m., two men were drinking together near Carlton Avenue South and South Bailey Street on the east side of Georgetown. The men got into an argument, and one man—who police say is 54-years-old—accused the 49-year-old of stealing something.

A witness at the scene saw the 54-year-old stab the other man in the back. The 54-year-old then stood over the other man and stabbed him several more times before fleeing the area.

The 49-year-old man was taken to Harborview with life-threatening injuries. The 54-year-old man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.

Last week, I wrote a story about motels along East Marginal Way South on the west side of Georgetown, which neighbors say are magnets for crime in the area. You can read it here.
