You In My Tent Now

Gadhafi the endless...

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The State Department said Wednesday it continues to talk to Libyan officials about next month's visit to the New York area by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly continued to hold out the possibility of a compromise over Gadhafi's reported plans to pitch his Bedouin tent on the grounds of a Libyan diplomatic residence in suburban New Jersey during his visit to participate in the annual United Nations General Assembly.

That doesn't look like a picture of suburban New Jersey.

That's because it's not suburban New Jersey. Apparently Charles doesn't know the difference.

Fuck the tent, the State Department should deny Gadhafi's entrance visa in response to Scotland's shameful release of the Lockerbie bomber and Libya's even more shameful celebatory welcome of said bomber.

If Gadhafi wants to continue Libya's re-entrance into the global community he needs to play by the rules and those rules should include not treating a terrorist bomber like a rockstar. A diplomatic slap in the face would be a good wake-up call.

With bodyguards like Gaddafi's, any man might find himself pitching a tent, so to speak.

I think Charles' picture is appropriate, since the place he's pitching his tent is about a mile from the George Washington Bridge. Suburban to New Yorkers, perhaps, but more dense than Bellevue.

This is what the place looks like: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washingt… Not quite the same as Charles' picture.

Letting Gadhafi into the country is one thing. Given that he's coming, I really don't care if he wants to pitch a tent.

@9: Okay, now, see that little thing in the lower right of the map? That's called "New York, NY". It's where the photo was taken from. In fact, it looks in the rough direction of Englewood!

And it's appropriate because the original idea was to pitch his tent in Central Park (which is in the city where the photo was taken). And also because it's the environment in which Gadahfi will be momentarily residing. And also because Charles is jutxaposing the general environment shown in the first against that of the second.

But no, since there are tall buildings in Charles' photo, he is clearly implying that Gadahfi will be pitching his tent on the 18th floor of the New York Times building.

And he doesn't use toilet paper. He wipes with his fingers. It's an Arab thing.

Alright, enough Baconcat and care bear. Let's move on to a more important debate, like which airport is a bigger shit-hole, JFK or Newark.

@13: As is the case with the majority of your rhetorical questions, you wind up as the winner.

You, Fifty-Two-Eighty, are the bigger shithole.

There is, alas, no prize.
