Superman Says: "Hop on the Welfare Wagon!"

Posted by on Wed, Aug 26, 2009 at 2:23 PM

ComicsMix just posted an old ad starring Superman in defense of welfare and public health care. Here are the first four panels:

Looks like someone got a hold of some red kryptonite.

I knew it! Superman has a long history of standing with unions and minorities, especially back when the two poor Jewish kids who created him were still doing his strip. The whole thing, including the title, which someone should put on a t-shirt, is available over here.

Tragically, Superman was denied coverage for kryptonite-related injuries that were determined to be the result of a "pre-existing condition."

I saw Superman fighting the evil Lex Luthor and his henchman in the Party of No.

Remember, they want America to fail.

Seriously.

Not that surprising tht Superman is apparently a pinko socialist. What would you expect from someone unable (or unwilling) to produce a birth certificate...

@3: Hell with that -- he's an illegal alien! Just snuck into 'Murka and "blended" in.

Well, he was adopted. But, yeah, he was born in a distant country, just like John McCain.

Meanwhile, the Green Lantern is probably pushing for co-ops.

Luckily, because Superman maintains a residence (The Fortress of Solitude) in the Canadian Arctic, he's covered under the Nunavut Healthcare Services Plan.

Of course Superman supports the public option. Clark Kent's newspaper is about to do another round of layoffs, and have you checked out how expensive COBRA is?

@ COMTE,

Superman had to relocate the Fortress of Solitude to Antarctica due to global warming, but he's still a Canadian citizen.

@10 - true, and so are any of his kids, but they have to reside in Canada for at least three continuous years if they want their kids to be Canadians.

A hospital offers people the advantages of modern science, like... a stethoscope?

(This was long before the machine that goes... PING!)
