Crime / Theater William Hoke Pleads Guilty

Remember that IT guy from the Seattle Children's Theater who was arrested for viewing child porn at home and at work?

He pleaded guilty today.

he "pled" guilty, and anybody who says "pleaded" guilty certainly deserves a punch in the head from me and all other real linguists. lazy amerikkkan.

Amen. I think this atrocity started with Fox News, or at least that's where I was first aware of it. I'm guessing that they realized their audience was too stupid to recognize "pled" as a real word and just decided to go with it.

Now they're all using it. ARRRRRRGGGGHHH!

@1,2 The meaning certainly got across to you two holier-than-thou prescriptive asswipes (oh, should that be ass wipes? or ass-wipes?), so I'd say in the context of a blog which doesn't even purport to use formal language in the first place, you're the two who (which? whom?) deserve the head punches.
