The World's Oldest Bartender

At 95 years old, Pittsburgh barkeep Angelo Cammarata is getting ready to retire. He poured his first beer on April 7, 1933—the day prohibition ended. He's loved his work and everybody's loved him.

His drink (still, pretty much daily): Jim Beam and Coke.

The photograph is of a gentleman who goes by webcoderguy hoisting a coldie with Mr. Cammarata.

For those many Sloggers in Chicago, I have a question:

Anybody know what became of Johnny the 80-something year old bartender up on southport near the brown line? The last year or so, it's been completely dark (even darker than usual) when I pass by, and he wasn't selling Christmas trees next door last December as he usually does. I fear the worst.

Best quote - "I'm not a mixologist, I'm a bartender," he says...

He was under 21 when he poured that first beer.

@4,
The legal drinking age was still 18 back then (or 19, I forget).

not to be totally nitpicky...but 4/7/1933 is when an amendment to the Volstead Act allowing sales of 3.2 beer and light wine went into effect.

Prohibition ended 12/5/33.

The best part was he still drinks ... Jim Bean and Coke ... I wonder if that was his favorite drink when he started pouring too.

Holy shit! This guy looks healthier than 65% of Americans. I'll have what he's drinking. Fuck Whole Foods (and their CEO too), it's Beam and Cokes from here on out.
