"Obama is the best salesman for healthcare reform, economic stimulus and other domestic agenda items, and his absence could hurt, analysts said."

This is an example of what the lawyers call
'Assuming facts not in evidence'

What has Obama actually 'sold' since he got in office?

It seems a really crummy time to be taking a week off- but then, Obama already has a pretty good Health Care Plan so he probably doesn't give a rat's ass.

Oh how the tide turns, all these bitter comments.
Sharper than a serpent's tooth....

The man's entitled to a vacation. Blue Heron "Farm" in Chilmark, only $25K per week. Comes with basketball court, pool, separate structures for secret services, etc. But he's paying the $25K personally!

Maybe he'll go bodysurfing in the buff at Lucy Vincent Beach, play in the clay pools on Gay Head, have a few drinks in Edgartown then go on a midnight tour of the Chappaquidick bridge ("hmm, look Michelle, it's not so hard to drive over it -- you'd have to be blind drunk to miss the bridge and drive into the drink!") and party down with Ackroyd Taylor Simon and Spike Lee et al.

Sounds like good times to me.

It's pretty hard to not relax and have a good time on the Vineyard (it's one of my favorite places too). And besides, who in their right mind wants to spend August in D.C.?

Barry Soetoro is taking time off because his socialized medicine scam is going down in flames.

A win for America!

Rush Limbaugh has speculated that as his political fortunes dwindle, Barry Soetoro (his real name) will try to cancel the 2010 elections. Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Hitler did the same thing.

@8: if you want to troll more effectively, you've got to throw in the Hitler reference in the middle of the post so as to make it a little less obvious what you're doing.

Baconcat, Gay Head is a place on the island (not far from Lobsterville). Oh, those Yankees.

It'll be interesting to see how many Sounders "fans" fall off the bandwagon now that the team has been struggling for a bit.

Johnson wouldn't have taken the week off.
He would have been kicking Senators' asses bloody until they came around.
He knew how to get legislation passed.
Carter, on the other hand, would have taken the week off.

at the very least Obama should be going from one end of the country to the other drumming up public support.

Obama's totally got no game.

of course it doesn't help that Obama's also totally got no Healthcare Reform PLAN to be selling but, hey!

Re: Amnesia, A real thing. Also real -- the no long term memory thing that the guy in Memento had. The neighbor of a good friend of mine has it (I think after a car crash?). Their house is covered in post-it notes that tell him what things are for, where things go, etc.
