This is one of the coolest things in the city, and it's rarely open—you borrow art for your walls just like you'd borrow a library book: for free. 6-9 pm tonight, Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. Check it out. Literally.
Jen,
Indeed, this is cool. I have in the past borrowed art usually paintings from Seattle Public Library. It's especially great when one is in temporary housing or sharing a room of a big house. I've been complemented on my selections. And, I have dutifully returned the loaned art to SPL. This is a great service.
I used to check out paintings from the SPL on Capitol Hill. I'm not sure if they still offer that service, but a what a wonderful service it was. Next time you're in the library, ask about it!
The Art Lending Library is a project of Cooper Artist Housing Residents (Seth Damm, Gina Coffman, and Flynn Bickley); not Youngstown. Here's the link for Cooper's site, which has info about A.L.L.: http://cooperjournal.wordpress.com/
thanks!
I think this is one of the most brilliant projects in Seattle. And Seth Damn is truly a unique talent, he brings an otherworldly intelligence and wit to everything he does.
