A shooting is what the natives consider a 'low income housing plan'. Anything to scare gentrifiers off.

I didn't need to read the article to know they were talking about Angies; that place is a festering wound.

Angie's precedes almost all other establishments in Columbia City (except, perhaps, Bob's Meats). On rare occasion, things get heated up. If you can't handle it, get to stepping back to Ballard.

On another note, the rap concert surely wasn't at Angies, they don't have live music there (they do have the best jukebox in the city though).

How is Angie's supposed to remain one of our most-intimidating dive bars if they don't maintain their street cred?

Angie's is a blight on our community. I'm all for old school Columbia City culture, but I can do with out the drug dealing, prostitution, and other general thuggery connected with the place. Pull the fucking liquor license and be done with it.

The show would have been at Columbia City Theater which has nights catering to the more sophisticated faux-G urban audience. Angie's is still a blight though. But the building looks like it might collapse on itself any day, which would be great.

@meks: rare occasion my ass; 9 out of 10 times I get within 20 feet of Angies I'm dodging smokers, broken glass, drug deals, fights, you name it. I realize I live in a city and that stuff is unavoidable, but Angies stands out as a blight on an otherwise nice block.

Couldn't agree more. Angie's needs to figure out a way to keep the area around their business safe...the crime that happens there is blatant and dangerous. If they can't figure it out, they need to be shut down. I've been in Columbia City for 5 years and every violent crime in the neighborhood stems from that bar.
