McAuliffe Goes to Bat for Public Option

Posted by on Thu, Aug 20, 2009 at 3:15 PM

Now that Terry McAuliffe has been temporarily run out of electoral politics, he is back to doing what he does best: bullying people and raising wheelbarrows full of money. And this time he's doing it for the right cause.

The incredibly well-connected Macker will host a fundraiser for the first Virginia U.S. Representative who pledges to demand a public option. Popular Old Dominion blog Not Larry Sabato has the scoop:

Terry McAuliffe thinks it is time to "insist" on the public option. We couldn't agree more. Terry's agreed to host a fundraiser with Virginia and national bloggers who are insisting on a public option for the first Virginia Congressman who will take our pledge! This will be an awesome event to highlight and honor any Virginia Congressman who shows leadership on this issue.

Way to go, Terry. Sometimes Congress needs to be called out on being timid.

It'll end up being Jim Moran, and he doesn't need the money. The Rs never even put a real candidate up against him.

Congress needs to show that the American people are more important than the special interests. And they need to expose Republican corruption.

FIGHT 4 PUBLIC OPTION: 300,00 Carrots for Progressive Reps

Meanwhile: In three days, FireDogLake.com and partners raised over $300,000 for 60 progressive members of Congress who agreed to draw a line in the sand over a public plan.

You, too, can offer carrots to these progressive politicians at ACT Blue:
