This time from the wee, new Satori Group, who moved as a pack from Cincinnati to Seattle to make theater. (Read The Stranger's review of their first local production, Will Eno's TRAGEDY: a tragedy—plus some drama in comments—here.)
In 2009, they will perform Artifacts of Consequence by Ashlin Halfnight (hot love in an underground bunker), The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol by John Berger (a poetic spectacle from London's Theatre de Complicite), and an original adaptation of Winky by George Saunders—our national poet of the mini-mall macabre.
Martin McDonagh at ACT and George Saunders by some new kids on the block—next year's theater season is looking up.
(Plus a comment on this morning's post regarding the action-movie quality of McDonagh's Inishmore:
I live right behind the theater where the play ran in New York. I'm used to hearing the occasional stage gunshot but this one was a whole 'nother thing. Scared the hell out of several out-of-town guests until I pointed out that it happened at the same time every night.
McDonagh, during his most fecund period, sat in the UK watching a lot of American television.)

Their task: Perpetuate America’s Legacy — Protect the Colony. One of them, 17-year-old Ari, has little memory of the outside world. But when an unexpected visitor arrives, she discovers her libido. As their relationship heats up, the situation above worsens, and resources run out. You decide what ‘Artifacts’ are kept and what is flushed to sea. Our legacy is yours to maintain. How will you choose?
Artifacts of Consequence premiered in New York City in 2009, co-produced by Electric Pear Productions and PL115, and directed by Kristjan Thor.
