Number of the Day: 134

Posted by on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 7:12 AM

(A) The number of points in mayoral candidate James Donaldson's plan for the city, parts of which were copied word for word from a similar plan released last year by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.

(B) The number of people in Seattle who belong to the Republican party, which Donaldson campaign manager Cindi Laws recently referred to as a "minority group" in an interview with The Stranger.

(C) The total number of rebounds corralled by Donaldson during the 1988 NBA playoffs.

(D) The longest amount of time, in seconds, that it should have taken Laws to realize that 134 points are way too many points for anyone to read.

Answer's after the jump.

(A) It's the number of points in mayoral candidate James Donaldson's 134-point plan for the city, which had portions copied word for word from a similar plan released last year by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. According to the Seattle Times, Laws had this to say about her decision to take a page from the book of the former NBA star Johnson's plan:

"People make these assumptions about athletes being dim ... so I looked at how it had been done," said Laws.

For the record, Donaldson had 146 rebounds in the 1988 playoffs with the Dallas Mavericks. That Mavs team also included future Sonics players Sam Perkins and Detlef Schrempf. They made a good run, but lost in the Western Conference finals in seven games to the eventual NBA champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Furthermore, there are somewhere around 100,000 Republicans in Seattle, give or take a few thousand depending on the sex scandal of the moment. And yes, I did read all 134 points of the plan.

The font alignment in that document is ridiculous.

I kind of hope Cindi never gets a lick of power, but still gets quoted every now and then. She's kind of a treasure. "People make these assumptions about athletes being clumsy with their plagiarism, so I just thought I'd reinforce that here."

Despite the blatant plagiarism, this is a HORRIBLY unprofessional document. All sorts of spelling, grammatical, and format errors.

It made me want to puke.

Every poll I've seen has Repubos at about 11-12% of voters - Dems around 60-65%.

Maybe 65,000 Rs tops and that's counting kids and large dogs.

Actually, Republicans are a minority group around here.

An America-hating racist job-exporting minority group.

Which is why they're down to 5 red states. And that's it.
