The Seattle Times has two solid editorials this weekend. The first comes on the heels of news that anti-gay Referendum 71 is looking more likely to make the ballot. The Times says that, despite a lawsuit filed by conservative Christians who want to keep their bigotry anonymous, the names of people who signed the petition should be available to the public:

Referendum and initiative petitions are public records and must remain so. People who sign such petitions are engaging in the legislative process.

Attempting to make, amend or stop a law is the most public of civic business.

The government cannot block the names of people who sign petitions out of a vague, undefined fear of what might happen.

The second editorial, in case you missed it Friday night, is an endorsement to approve Referendum 1, the bag fee. "Plastic and paper bags have never been free. Consumers pay for them. And they pay for the consequences of their presence in the garbage and waste stream," the paper says. Good work, Fairview Fanny. At this rate, we might even forget about those blowjobs you gave Dino Rossi.

You get dumber and more illogical with every post. Fortunately for us ***law-abiding*** citizens (see: non-drug addicts unlike yourself), legal decisions aren't made by the Seattle Times. Seriously dude, get yourself in school. You're a fucking moron.

finally got my organizing for america e mail on heatlh care. So here's their big community organizing effort...they want me to schedule an office visit with my congressperson, Jim McDermott.
What a waste of time. He's on board already, duh!
Now translate this into the whole list of 11 million strong. Most are in the most liberal congressional districts...so all those millions of people are being told to go visit with Rangel, Weiner, Waxman, etc.
Hey OFA! When people say "target" they don't mean try to shoot the ducks already in the bag!
It's politics 101 you don't waste tiem with people already on your side!
And office visits, wow, that's sure a brave way to stand down incipeint brownshirtism. I'm sure gracking up 200 office visits in Downtown Seattle at the Fed building will soon be all over TV and youtube, that's soooo visually interesting.

I think these stands may be consistent with the Times's overall philosophy of open government and fiscal conservatism. A lot of times left/ right binaries just don't work for guessing who your allies and opponents will be.

I wonder what it will take to make everyone forget that Dan wrote several pieces advocating the invasion of Iraq. Or that Erica stole a bottle of red wine from the QFC.

Why not go all the way and make all votes open?

This would conclusively tell us who really one.

Bush or Gore.

Rossi or Gregoire.

Did Obama ballot stuff in cities using Acorn or not.

Sure, let it all out in the open.

All of it though...

Baconcat, that's been the Times's nickname for decades. I think it was Emmett Watson who coined it.

1. The times office and plant are on Fairview, where they own a ton of real estate.

2. Fanny as name has little to do with ass. Very clunky, earlier era name for a woman. Perfect for the long term view of the Times.

It makes your skin craw cause you think you are supposed to fuck this dame - and you are queer. No problem, she does not fuck just everybody ...

Nice going Dimocrats

Support for Republican congressional candidates has risen to its highest level in recent years, giving the GOP a five-point lead over Democrats in the latest Congressional Ballot and stretching the out-of-power party's lead to six weeks in a row.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 43% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 38% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent.

I'm getting really sick of these initiative battles. Why can we get legislation prohibiting any initiative that proposes denial of civil liberties? It would save the people a lot of time and money and spare us the next knuckle-dragging half-wit's idea for queer-baiting an election.

Get the legislation and put an end to this every-two-year joke. I've said it before and I'll repeat it here. You don't put people's right up for a popular vote.

Let's ban all left-handed people from grocery stores. Let's ban all African-Americans from the library. Jews may only visit hospitals on Monday. Pretty ridiculous, eh? Why do gay people get to be the punching bags?

Why does everyone seem to ignore the fact that US District Judge Benjamin Settle was appointed by Bush with virtually no experience as a judge.
"A Republican, Settle said he has worked on several of former Sen. Slade Gorton's campaigns."

I am missing something? Not to mention Republican McKenna is the Attorney General and he will be on the side trying to get the names released. Is the case going to be heard by a judge other than this one that issued the injunction?
