It's a poetry-heavy day.
University Book Store hosts Carolyne Wright and Rob McNamara. Wright has written a collection of poems titled Majestic Nights: Love Poems of Bengali Women. McNamara's collection is titled Cat Under the Stairs. The good-looking poetry reading, though, is up at the Chapel Performance Space. Norma Cole and Will Owen will read. Cole's new collection of poems is titled Where Shadows Will. Owen does not have a collection yet, but has been published in many places. This is part of the Subtext reading series, which always runs interesting work. If you're interesting in attending a poetry reading tonight, this one is the one you should attend.
John Hess reads at Elliott Bay Book Company. The Galapagos: Discovering Nature's Tapestry is reportedly an "easy to read" guide to "the Galapagos experience."
But the reading of the night is at the College Inn Pub. Mary Miller, Johnathan Evison, and Aaron Burch will read. Evison, author of All About Lulu, is always entertaining. Miller is the author of Big World, a collection of sad, beautiful stories, many of which involve bars. Burch is the editor of Hobart, which is a literary journal it is okay to like. Don't miss this reading.
The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
