The Stranger Will Be Publishing Our Endorsements in the Primary Tomorrow on Slog at 4:55 pm

EndorsementPhoto.jpg

That's Dominic Holden in The Stranger's conference room taking a cell phone picture of a white board. On that white board (but fuzzed out with this handy iPhoto tool): the votes of all the members of the Stranger Election Control Board for the primary. We'll wrap up the voting at the end of the day tomorrow (there are two races we haven't completed endorsement interviews for yet) and publish our picks five minutes before you leave work. That way, if you feel like filling out your ballot this weekend (it'll be in your mailbox tomorrow or the next day), you'll know what to do. You have until August 18 to mail it back.

Now please enjoy this (other crappy cell phone) photo of King County Exec candidates Dow Constantine, Larry Phillips, and Ross Hunter in our offices a few hours ago (Susan Hutchison refused to show up):

This is the only moment they were sitting still. Most of the meeting looked like this:

See you tomorrow.

thank you for thinking for us so we don't have to!!

This is Dominic's "ideal democracy", right?

Is Dominic wearing flower-print board shorts? Hang ten, dood!

Endorsement meeting, or sausage fest?

Yeah, really. It sounds like Lindy was in the endorsement meetings, but besides that, will it be a group of men endorsing all men? Maybe Jessie Israel?

I value the Stranger's endorsements, but are there any young-ish progressive groups with at least a proportionate number of women that are making endorsements?

Lindy - Sorry for calling you "that". :(

I leave work at 4:30. Guess this means I won't vote. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Let me guess: Constantine for King County and McGinn for Mayor. Anyone who'll raise taxes and piss it away for so-called 'social justice'.

"are there any young-ish progressive groups with at least a proportionate number of women that are making endorsements?"

You mean even further to the looney left?

Dominic, I see that Fnarf beat me to it when it comes to pointing out the matter of your shorts (ahem), but we also need to have a chat about that shirt. It's a nice shirt, but it's blue. You see, your shorts do not appear to have any blue in them, nor do they seem to have any color that complements blue.

I'll let you connect the dots from here.

@8 - Actually McGinn's the only candidate AGAINST the largest tax increase in the history of our City - the tax increase of $930 million + cost overruns to pay for the tunnel. I-5 + Surface + Transit = cheaper and way, way better for social justice, our environment, the economy, our budget and our future; right on McGinn.

So why the blur between Charles and Dominic--practicing with the smudge tool, or was Dan popping in between flights?

@11,

I understand your concern about the city's contribution to the tunnel, but the cost overruns argument doesn't hold water. Olympia knows that the House provision isn't enforceable. Nobody in Seattle will pay for overruns.

Why bother waiting until then?

KC Exec - Larry or Dow
Seattle Mayor - Mike
Seattle Attorney - the other guy

Thanks, now go and vote.

I just read on one of McGinn's mailings (which I realize is probably not the most objective of sources) that the mayor is proposing paying for part of the tunnel by $252 million in utility rate increases.

The utilities are utilities - not cash cows for Nickel's pet projects. We're extremely lucky to own our own water supply and most of our electrical generation. That's why our rates are so low. Any rate increases should go only to pay for improvements and maintenance to the utilities.

SPU and SCL need to be removed from council and mayor's office control and put under a separate governing body to avoid this type of nonsense.

And yes, more ass pictures would be nice.

#12 The man seated next to Dom is not Charles, it is Alexander the news intern.

questions about the symbolism of the three fireballs:

Does the three fireball photo connote the temperature in the room (i.e., lack of air conditioning?)
Or does it connote the hotheadedness of Alex the Intern, Dom and Brendan?
Does it connote the hotheadedness or thermal energy of the Exec candidates? Did they run out of beverages? Does it connote the perceived hotness of the candidates? Did you make them dance?

I'm sorry. You guys actually sit around and vote on this shit? I just want to know which one of the candidates promised you guys longer lunch periods and more parking spaces for the underclassman in this highschool-esque election forum.

What's it like to be so self-important?

I think Dominic looks fine in the photo. Perhaps, the shirt color matches the outline of the flowers on his board shorts? Or, perhaps like me he has run out of hot weather clothing, because of the length of the heat wave and the desire to refrain from turning on any appliance that will increase the heat in our homes. I know that I have been reluctant to turn on my washing machine.
