King County Reports First Heatwave-Related Death

Posted by on Thu, Jul 30, 2009 at 3:06 PM

From an King County health department email:

Today, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office reported the first death in King County associated with the recent heat wave. The decedent, a man in his 60s from Seattle, had heart disease with heat as a contributing factor to his cause of death.

Who will put a stop to the sun's murderous rampage?

I believe Mr Burns had developed a plan several years ago. Everyone said he was mad.

"From an King County health department email"

I think it was a King County health department email.

Unless it was historical.

Also, I believe it is actually the King County Department of Public Health (note the caps in the appropriate locations).

Also: historical, or historic, or both?

how is it a murderous rampage, if only one person as been killed?

Pithy lulz aside, death by excessive heat is probably one if the more uncomfortable and prolonged ways to go.

Heat waves are among the more deadly natural disasters. But a tornado that kills two people in a trailer usually gets less attention than a heat wave that kills 10 people.

People suck at risk assessment.

Grrr. More. The tornado gets *more* attention. Where the fuck is the edit button?

Mmm, we should definitely nuke the sun. That would show it who's the boss.
