Light rail's first death happened last night at 5th Ave. S. and S. Holgate St. It is now only a matter of time before it has its first birth (some pregnant lady who should be in bed but is out and about like it ain't no thing).

It appears that the light rail death was not an accident:

[Police spokesman Jeff Kappel] says there was no immediate indication what the man was doing on the tracks in a non-pedestrian bus and train lane. There are no crosswalks in the area.

It was the first fatal accident on the 14-mile Sound Transit line since it opened July 18 between downtown Seattle and Tukwila.
