Rome, Italy - President Silvio Berlusconi terminated the trial of accused murderess Amanda Knox and granted her a full pardon after a secret meeting...

Berlusconi, noted for a roving eye toward young, nubile women, and currently undergoing heavy scrutiny for sexual gaffes by not only his estranged wife, but a puerile public, denied any requests for media interviews and a plausible explanation.

The bad news for our Amanda is that this pardon happened in a universe that is not the one we are in.

I have no idea why Amanda Knox is a big deal.

None.

I've read your posts and your articles about her and I still don't understand why I should care about this murder trial among the thousands that are going on at the same time. Is it the whole pretty-white-girl/sex/Italy/black men thing? Is that it? She's pretty and it's a sleazy story and hey, presto, Billy Wilder?

"I have no idea why Amanda Knox is a big deal"

because she's one of the few attractive women you'll find in Seattle. Locking her up is as close to collective punishment as you'll find west of Gaza.

Now, if she'd been a typical Seattle minger.......

Agree with #1 and #2. The story itself isn't bigger than most murder trials, but like we did to Anna Nicole Smith's death, the international media made a monstrosity out of it.

Charles, should I assume that your screenplay for the Knox story is coming along nicely?

Having read about some of the things the prosecutor in this has done in the past-including creating evidence and paying "witnesses"-I would give little credence to anything the state is presenting in this case.
Just check out The Monster of Florence by D. Preston for a more complete view of the Italian Legal system.

@2: Didn't you read Charle's sentence? Because she's "our Amanda". Seattle's. Collectively.

Who can blame him.
She is hot.
Being a murderess just makes it hotter.

@11: Silly, you don't vote for Amanda!

Since when is a lame parody news story an alternate universe?
